Review and Giveaway: Knot Genie

THE REVIEW: Recently I was reading about products that are great for kids and I found out about the Knot Genie.  I have posted before how brushing Sara's hair is always a problem.  She has the same curly hair I do and when I was her age my mom kept my hair really short and now I know why.  Bath-time and hair brushing time have been a total nightmare for quite some time now- Sara just hates anything to do with her hair because it is always knotted.

I checked out the prices and honestly was really not sure- the idea of spending $19.99 on a brush for Sara made me cringe.  But then I went to their facebook page and the reviews were just fantastic.  Like people were blown away by how amazing it was and I figured it was worth a try.

Brushing Sara's hair while she happily sits there
And it is absolutely that fantastic and more.  Honestly (and I know this sounds a little extreme but it is true) but it really was life-changing.  Sara likes to have me brush her hair.  She will get out of the tub and bring me the brush and the spray detangler and sit there while I brush her hair.  We don't fight about it and it is actually a pleasant experience.  We actually keep a spare one (yes I bought another expensive brush for Sara) because I can't imagine what would happen if we lost it.

I sent an email to Knot Genie letting them know how fantastic their product is and they sent me a Knot Genie to give away to one of my readers.  I am so excited about it!

FROM THE COMPANY: The magic trick behind the Knot Genie™ is one we are happy to reveal. It all has to do with the different lengths of teeth on the brush. When brushing, they bend just right, to gently untangle the hair. And because of this lack of stress, the hair's cuticle stays unharmed... revealing the smoothest, shiniest hair you've ever seen.

Handles like a dream. The fact that The Knot Genie isn't like traditional hair brushes goes way beyond the bristle side. Its unique cloud-shaped top fits the palm nicely, whether you're right or left handed. Which means it feels more like an extension of your hand than a grooming tool. And also means the brushing process is far more comfortable, gentle, and most importantly, done quickly. Voila!

Review: Purell Hand Sanitizer

THE REVIEW: We love Purell in our family, so I was really excited when I was approved for the Purell BzzAgent Campaign.   We got 4 Jelly Wrap carriers with mini bottles of Purell that we can clip and carry wherever we go.
Sara was especially excited that we got 4 of them, because that meant that each person in the family could each have their own (it's the little things that makes 4 year olds happy).
Sara's school bag with Purell Jelly Wrap

Sara immediately put hers on the her school bag.  She insisted that I keep mine in my purse and that Greg put his in the car and of course, we put Matty's on the diaper bag.

I love the fact that I know that we all have hand sanitizer so easily accessible.  We already have used it so much- at the playground, at school, at a restaurant.  It is fantastic!

FROM THE COMPANY: Purell is America's #1 brand for killing germs.  It was invented in 1988  to reduce the spread of germs in hospitals and restaurants.  Now it is the brand trusted by doctors, professionals and consumers everywhere to safely clean and refresh their hands.  It is a powerful dermatologist-tested formula and has a soft revitalizing effect.   It has become one of the most recognizable brands in the world.  It is available in pump bottles, portable bottles, wipes and spray.  It will kill 99.99% of the most common germs that may cause illness.

Babysteals.com and Kidsteals.com Review

BabySteals.com
THE REVIEW:

I have actually reviewed Babysteals.com before. It was one of the first reviews that I ever did. I have been a huge fan ever since. Since then the Steals.com family has grown. They now have Kidsteals.com and Scrapbooksteals.com.

I have not purchased anything from Scrapbooksteals.com but I can tell you how wonderful both Babysteals.com and Kidsteals.com are. In addition to selling great products, their customer service is absolutely amazing.

I recently purchased a baby carrier at Babysteals.com and when I received it, it actually was broken. I emailed them and IMMEDIATELY received an email back stating that they were sending me a new one ASAP as well as a postage paid envelope to mail back the damaged one. A few days later I received it, and it is just perfect.

I also purchased a baby doll carrier a few days ago and received it today and my daughter has not stopped wearing it around the house. She is so excited to have a baby carrier for her baby doll like we have for the new baby we are expecting.

I strongly suggest signing up for their feed or checking daily. Deals go live at 9am MST and are sold until they are all gone. And sometimes they go FAST! If you have not already, make sure you check it out, I guarantee you will not regret it.r

About Babysteals.com:
At BabySteals.com we sell one quality baby or maternity product every day at 50-80% off until it sells out. It's not just a deal, it's a steal! A 'BabySteal'!

About Kidsteals.com:
At KidSteals.com we sell products from one hot brand each day at 50%-80% off until it sells out. One amazing steal a day at 9am MST and when it's gone, it's gone. Act fast because we sell out quick and slow fingers lose the race because it's not just a deal it's a steal! A 'KidSteal'!

Cupcakes n' Sunshine Custom Crochet Hats Review

THE REVIEW:

I love hats. Not for myself but for Sara. They look amazing on her. However she hates them. Absolutely will not wear them. So when my friend Shannie started Cupcakes N Sunshine I was totally thrilled. She makes the most amazing children's hats. We currently have 2 for Sara- a foofa hat and a pageboy style hat

Why do we have 2 for a child who hates hats? Because she loves the hats that Shannie made. They are just adorable and amazing. The hats that we have are acryllic but if someone wants an organic yarn, Shannie is happy to use their preference.

FROM THE COMPANY:

Children's hats are $20, unless wool or a higher end material is requested.
Adult hats are $30, with the same conditions as above

Back when Torryn was 4 months old, we switched to cloth diapers. After seeing how much people were charging for wool covers, I decided to just make my own, since I already knew how to crochet. Someone asked me if I could make them a hat and after that, more and more people started asking for them. This is my second year making hats and it just gets more fun with each and every order.

Hmmm, some sort of fun fact. Well, I taught myself how to crochet when I was 16. I was a spastic sort of kid (still am, really) and needed something to keep my hands busy. My Gran bought me a book, a set of hooks and some yarn and before to much longer, I was whipping out afgans and bits of lace.

I really enjoy working on custom hats, like Elmo, Yo Gabba Gabba and the like because they keep me from relying on patterns.

Turn around time for a hat is normally 1-2 weeks. Larger orders tend to take more time, as do complex hats, such as character hats. Rush orders can always be turned around quickly for a small rush fee.

I can not stress enough how wonderful these hats are. Sara wears her foofa hat constantly. We are always getting stopped so people can ask where I got it. I actually started to carry Shannie's card with me to give out to people. Head on over to Cupcakes N Sunshine right now to check it out. I promise you will love it.

Dudley's Solo by Tiffany Alexander Book Review

THE REVIEW:

This a very sweet children's book. It is the first book in the "Children's Band" series. It takes place at church where the children are practicing for the choir concert. Dudley is upset that he is not able to sing in the band because he is hearing impaired. His friends come up with a way for him to be able to have a solo anyway.

Sara and I read it together but I think she is a little young to understand all of it, but I can't wait until she does. I think it is a great book that teaches how it is important to embrace our differences, be thankful for our talents and how important it is to help others.

About the author:
Tiffany Alexander resides in Atlanta, GA and works as an editor for CNN. She is a member of the Independent Books Publishers Association, the National Association of Black Journalists, Hampton University Alumni Association and the African- American Children's Book Writers and Illastrators. She is currently working on the next book in the "Children's Band" Series.

Children's Claritin Review

THE REVIEW:

I am a BzzAgent and was recently given the opportunity to review Children's Claritin Allergy Non-Drowsy 24 Hour Relief Grape Flavored Chewables. It is the number 1 pediatrician recommended non-drowsy brand. And it is safe and effective for kids 2 and up. So we were able to give some to Sara last week when she was having itchy eyes and a runny nose. My allergies were totally acting up and we figured it might be the same thing for her. The weather here has been all over the place, so it is hard to know when she is sick and when it is allergy/weather related. She loved the Claritin Chewables. She actually thought they were candy and got mad when we did not want to give her more. So they get a thumbs up from us!

Allergy Myths and Facts:
* Shorthaired "hypoallergenic" pets can cause allergies — it's a protein in the animal's saliva or urine that people are allergic to, not the hair
* Hay fever is not, in fact, caused by hay — the term was coined in 1828 by a British physician when he noticed his allergy symptoms worsened during the British hay season
* You probably won't pass on all of your allergies to your kids — a child's chances of developing allergies are about 50% if one parent has them, and 75% if both parents have allergies

There's more than one great way to help relieve a child's worst allergy symptoms:

* Children's Claritin® Grape Chewables (for kids age 2 and up) —provides powerful non-drowsy relief of your kid's worst allergy symptoms in a great-tasting chewable
* Children's Claritin® Grape Flavored Syrup (for kids age 2 and up) — provides powerful all day relief without drowsiness in a great tasting, dye-free syrup
* Claritin® RediTabs® tablets (for kids age 6 and up) — instantly dissolving tablet your child can take anywhere, with or without water*

Tie Buddies- Review and Giveaway

THE REVIEW:

So I will admit that there are some things that are confusing to me as a parent. One of the big ones is how to teach kids to tie their shoes. I mean, honestly, you give them some laces and even if you show them, it is just a bunch of string right? Anyway, Sara is not old enough for me to worry about this yet, but I am glad that I found about Tie Buddies.

What are Tie Buddies?
From the Tie Buddies website:
Tying your shoes is a small but essential skill, one you use for the rest of your life.
Help your little one learn faster with Tie BuddiesTM.
These cute, kid-friendly devices act as easy pull-tabs for small hands, taking messy loops out of the equation.
The happy characters make a game of it, resulting in a strong knot and even stronger recall.
The simple developmental hurdle of shoe tying affects millions of parents and children daily. For many years, shoe tying has been a point of frustration for both parents and children. With 1slip-ons and hook-and-loop closures, children and parents have postponed the learning of tying shoes. Tie Buddies® is a mom-invented product that came
about from wanting to give my daughters independence, build their confidence and have fun learning. By eliminating loops, Tie Buddies® eliminate the confusion of multiple "holes" where the laces can pass through. There is no other product that stays on the child's shoe giving them independence while re-enforcing the learning process.

I am actually excited to be able to use these with Sara. We got the Fairy and Magic wand and it is just such a cool idea. We actually had a friend of ours try them out since Sara is so young and she said that her daughter loved it (daughter is 4). She is still not great at tying her shoes, but it is getting better. How cool is that!

Do you think that your child will want to give it a try? One lucky winner will receive a pair of Tie Buddies.

See Kai Run Review and Giveaway!

THE REVIEW:

Sara Rose hates shoes. Hates them. I put them on, she pulls them off. During the summer, that is fine. During the winter, not so much. So I knew that I had found something great when we received our pair of shoes from See Kai Run and Sara Rose kept the shoes on. And I knew that they amazing when she brought them to me to put them on her. That is right, the girl who does not like shoes wanted me to put them on her!

In addition to obviously being really comfortable, they are just adorable. Here they are:

And here they are on her feet (it was hard to get a good pic since she was in motion)
Photobucket

See Kai Run is the brain child of a mom (of course). It was inspired by the need for comfortable shoes with flexible soles for her little Kai to wear outdoors. She wanted to create a line of shoes that was as happening as Kai - bold, hip, fun, with an urban sensibility. Something entirely different than what was offered.

The soles are made of extremely flexible rubber which is great for outdoor use while allowing the foot to flex in all the right places. They're also made of butter soft leather with a breathable leather lining and padded collars for comfort. Finally, See Kai Run shoes are easy to get on and off with Velcro closures that ensure a great fit. (Did I mention that they are also adorable?)

Their spring line just came out and they are cuuuuuuuuuute! I think we may need to get Sara Rose another pair or two.

Want to know when they go on sale, make sure to sign up for their newsletter on their home page.

Manifest Your Magnificence Review

I love anything that can be used to help nurture a child's self-esteem. I recently received Manifest Your Magnificence Cards and that is exactly what they do.

Manifest Your Magnificence is a unique set of 63 affirmation cards designed specifically to nurture a child's self-esteem. Beautifully illustrated and written, each affirmation card carries a powerful message that when read over and over again, connects each child to their true being. When we help children reconnect with their true being, the manifest their magnificence in the world- this is the ultimate goal.

They are based on the idea that "I am" are two of the most powerful words in the world, for whatever we put after them becomes our reality. The cards can be used in many ways to remind children that they are magnificent creations. Once a child pics a card, you can reinforce the power of the affirmation by having the child express how it relates to them by:
* writing, talking, drawing
* singing, acting, dancing
* carrying a card with them as a reminder of who they truly are.

You can purchase the cards and also the CD here and I firmly believe that all parents and teachers of children ages 6-12 should have these cards to review with the children in their lives.

Thanks to Family Review Network for the opportunity to review these amazing cards.
